The Mayor called the Public Hearing for "1609 43rd Ave Rezoning Amendment Bylaw 5927, 2022" together with Public Input for Development Variance Permit 00569 to order at 5:33 pm.

As Mayor of the City of Vernon, and in the spirit of this gathering, I recognize the City of Vernon is located in the traditional territory of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation.

The Mayor provided an overview of the procedure for the Public Hearing.

"1609 43rd Ave Rezoning Amendment Bylaw 5927, 2022" together with Public Input for Development Variance Permit 00569

Bylaw 5927 is to rezone the property from "R5 - Four-plex Housing Residential" to "RH2 - Stacked Row Housing Residential" in anticipation of developing a 16-unit townhouse project.  Development Variance Permit 00569 is requesting variances to the side and rear yard of the subject property.

The Corporate Officer advised that Notice of the Public Hearing was published in the December 1 and 8, 2022 issues of the Morning Star Newspaper, as required by the Local Government Act.

The Current Planner provided an overview of Bylaw 5927 and DVP00569.

The Corporate Officer advised that no submissions had been received.

The Mayor called for a first time for representation from the public who believed they were affected by "1609 43rd Ave Rezoning Amendment Bylaw 5927, 2022" together with Public Input for Development Variance Permit 00569.

  • this development will provide a good-looking product with affordability and walkability in mind

The Mayor called for a second, third and final time for representation from the public who believed they were affected by "1609 43rd Ave Rezoning Amendment Bylaw 5927, 2022" together with Public Input for Development Variance Permit 00569.

Mayor Cumming closed the Public Hearing at 5:45 pm.
