Housing Action Plan (6460-10)

Councillor Anderson entered the meeting at 8:47 am.

The Director, Community Infrastructure and Development provided an overview and history of the development of the Housing Action Plan including the following the points:

  • First affordable and attainable housing plan adopted in 2007 with "Building Bridges Strategy" and "Attainable Housing Strategy"
  • Definitions of affordable and attainable housing reviewed
  • Five key areas of focus for the Housing Action Plan reviewed: 
    1. Increase supply of rental housing
    2. Increase diversity and affordability of market housing
    3. Acquire Land
    4. Partner in the delivery of affordable and attainable housing
    5. Educate, Communicate and Strengthen Relationships.
  • Moved by:Councillor Gares
    Seconded by:Councillor Anderson

    THAT Council endorse the Housing Action Plan as attached to the memorandum titled "Housing Action Plan" dated September 12, 2022 and respectfully submitted by the Long Range Planner;

    AND FURTHER, that Council refer the Housing Action Plan to the Regional District of North Okanagan Board of Directors for information.
