The Mayor called the public hearing to order at 5:30 pm.

As Mayor of the City of Vernon, and in the spirit of this gathering, I recognize the City of Vernon is located in the traditional territory of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation.

To update the zoning map to address anomalies identified since adoption of Zoning Bylaw 6000 on June 24, 2024.

The Corporate Officer advised that Notice of the Public Hearing was published in the February 13 and 20, 2025 issues of the Morning Star Newspaper, as required by the Local Government Act.

The Acting Manager, Long Range Planning provided an overview of Bylaw 6031.

The Corporate Officer advised that no written submissions had been received following publication of the agenda.

The Mayor called for a first time for representation from the public who believed they were affected by "Commercial Zone and Downzoning Map Amendment Bylaw 6031, 2025”

G. Rischanek was concerned with the property located on 39A Street as the size of the property is very small making it difficult for any future development and added that it is currently difficult to turn at that corner into the laneway. 

The Mayor called for a second time for representation from the public.

The Mayor called a third and final time for representation from the public who believed they were affected by "Commercial Zone and Downzoning Map Amendment Bylaw 6031, 2025” there being none, the Public Hearing closed at 5:41 pm.
